Dr Bianca De Canha

Homoeopath

Dr. Bianca De Canha is the proud mother of a beautiful baby boy who was born in September 2014 and wife to Dr. Adam Sayers, the PURE Health Centres Chiropractor. She qualified in 2009 with a Masters degree in Homoeopathy at the University of Johannesburg.

Dr De Canha’s training included extensive anatomy, physiology, human dissection, chemistry and physics with more focus being placed on pathology, diagnostics and clinical presentation of patients with different pathologies in the later years. In her 5th year, aside from lectures and practical work consulting with patients, she was required to complete a mini dissertation of her own choice. Dr De Canha’s dissertation was on Unexplained Infertility which became the springboard from which she jumped from when starting her practice.

Dr De Canha has enjoyed 10 glorious years in practice helping patients with conditions ranging from infertility and hormonal imbalances to the common cold or influenza, to menopause, to gastric complaints ranging from peptic ulcers to irritable bowel disease.

In her spare time she is the moderator for 3rd year Diagnostics and up until 2014 lectured Gynecology, Obstetrics, and Genitourinary to the 4th year diagnostics students at the University of Johannesburg. She was recently nominated and voted in as the Gauteng Chairperson of the Homoeopathic Association of South Africa also known as the HSA.

Her love for her profession has grown significantly since having her own child and having to treat him for various issues namely, abdominal cramping, sinusitis, sleeplessness, skin rashes and teething. “I feel that this experience has helped me to understand the role of the ‘mom’ which is something that a textbook never could truly explain. I have found much enjoyment in helping new moms with the bumps they may encounter in their new roles and have a passion for breastfeeding and fascilitating this very precious relationship between mother and child.”

What can you expect in my appointment?

My treatment of patients with any condition begins with a full case history spanning at least an hour. At this point I review blood tests and special investigations not older than the last 6 months, conduct a physical examination of my patients where necessary and then send for blood tests, ultrasounds or X-rays where needed.

During this time I address key issues relating to diet and lifestyle which may be influencing the patients health or main complaint. Thereafter, I compound the relevant remedy for the patients case along with any other supplements needed to rectify any deficiencies or to support or protect certain organs or systems. Patient improvement is then monitored over the course of a 3 to 4 month period where repeat special investigations such as blood tests may be repeated so as to assess any changes.
