For Mandela Day this year the Pure Health Team collected “67 Warm Hugs” preloved teddies for the children of Rainbow Day Care Centre in Randfontein.

Rainbow Day Care Centre started in 1994, catering for 5 children, after a needs assessment survey revealed that there were many children with disabilities in need of care and stimulation.Presently 40 children from Mohlakeng, Kagiso, Toekomsrus and Randfontein are being catered for in a building, which has been converted into a Day Care Centre in Randfontein.

The service is targeted at children with disabilities in the Greater Randfontein area and surrounding informal settlements as well as Kagiso in Mogale City. These areas are characterised by high incidences of poverty and unemployment. ± 90% of our beneficiaries come from poor socio-economic backgrounds and single parent households.
